Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has announced that it has blocked more than 3 million Indian accounts in 46 days from June 16 to July 31. Whatsapp said that 3,027,000 Indian accounts have been blocked between June 16 and July 31. The company said in its report that it had received 594 complaints during this period, on which the company has taken action. Most of these accounts have been suspended due to automatic or bulk messages.
The company has released its second monthly compliance report for a period of 46 days from June 16 to July 31, in compliance with Information Technology (IT) norms. The company said that the accounts which have been banned.

Of those, more than 95 percent of those accounts were using spam messages in a wrong way. On the other hand, Facebook said that between June 16 and July 31, 1,504 complaints were received on Instagram and 265 complaints were received and it has taken action on all of them.

20 lakh accounts were banned between May 15 and June 15
Earlier, the company had said in its report last month that it has banned at least 20 lakh accounts in India between May 15 and June 15. In July, the search engine Google said that it has removed more than 1.5 lakh content based on complaints received in the months of May and June. Of these, more than 98 percent were related to copyright.
