Kolkata. The West Bengal government on Wednesday extended the COVID-19 restrictions in the state till 30 September. This information was given in an official notification. In view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in the state, the restrictions were first implemented on 16 May, which are being extended at regular intervals. These restrictions were to end on Wednesday, but the government has again extended them till 30 September.
According to the notification, it is mandatory to always follow the rules of wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance and maintaining cleanliness. However, the government has given permission to open private and government offices with half the staff. According to the notification, there will be a ban on all kinds of movement and public activities except health services, law and order and essential services from 11 pm to 5 am. Essential services include agriculture and other emergency services.
The notification said that the district administration, police commissionerate and local authorities will ensure strict compliance of the state’s instructions to wear masks and maintain social distance. “Any violation of the restriction measures can be proceeded against under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.” Meanwhile, the Alipore Zoo, which was closed during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, was opened to visitors on Wednesday after five months.

Zoo director Ashish Samant told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that visitors will be allowed to come to the zoo between 9 am and 5 pm as before, but all the rules related to Kovid-19 will have to be strictly followed.

At present, treatment of 3 lakh 51 thousand 87 patients is going on. By including the new figures, so far 3 crore 33 lakh 16 thousand 755 patients have been identified in the country.
