New Delhi. Rain Alert continued in many parts of the country on Sunday as well. Monsoon rain occurred in some states including Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Odisha. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) says that on Monday also the process of rain may continue in some states including Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Western UP. An alert has been issued in Maharashtra and Odisha regarding this.
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of ‘heavy to heavy rains’ in Mumbai and other parts of Konkan region and western Maharashtra for the next two-three days. It is very likely to intensify into a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal and move north-northwestwards. Due to this, heavy rains have been forecast in parts of Konkan and western Maharashtra including Mumbai.
The IMD issued an orange alert for Raigad, Pune, Ratnagiri, Satara and Kolhapur, while a yellow alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, Wardha, Palghar and Sindhudurg districts. Light to moderate rain is expected in the rest of Maharashtra in the next two-three days.
On the other hand, light to moderate rains were recorded in many parts of Rajasthan and at many places during the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many parts of the state till Thursday. Normal rain has been recorded in Rajasthan so far.
According to Radheshyam Sharma, director of Jaipur Meteorological Center, conditions are favorable for monsoon to remain active in most parts of eastern Rajasthan and some parts of western Rajasthan in the coming days. There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Udaipur division and adjoining districts for the next four-five days.
Apart from this, the IMD has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in Odisha. The Meteorological Center at Bhubaneswar said that the low pressure area is likely to increase over North Odisha and North Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department said that wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely over Odisha coast and adjoining areas in the next two days.
In view of the possibility of high waves in the sea, fishermen have been advised to return to the coast from deep sea by Saturday night and not to venture into the sea till Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain and very heavy rain at one or two places on Sunday and Monday.
