Heavy to very heavy rains may occur over Konkan, North Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh in the next 3-4 days. Apart from this, very heavy rain is expected in the state of East and West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on Wednesday.
Gujarat: Over 200 people rescued in Rajkot, Jamnagar
Rajkot and Jamnagar districts of Gujarat received heavy rains during the last 24 hours and more than 200 people trapped in the floods were rescued while more than 7,000 people were shifted to safer places in both the districts. The officers provided this information. Newly appointed Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday visited the affected areas of Jamnagar district and assured help to the flood-affected people.
Besides a national highway in Jamnagar, 18 state highways passing through Rajkot, Jamnagar and Junagadh districts of Saurashtra region were closed due to floods, affecting traffic, he said. He said that after heavy rains the connectivity of many villages has been cut off from the roads.
Heavy rain in Kolkata and suburbs, water logging on main roads
Kolkata and other districts in South Bengal received heavy rains on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department issued a bulletin and said that during the day, various parts of Kolkata and its neighboring districts – North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Harwada and Hooghly – received moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. There was water logging in various areas of the metropolis including Sector-5 in Salt Lake, which caused a lot of trouble for the people to reach their destination. A small number of buses and autorickshaws were plying on the roads this morning due to rain.
Heavy rains affected life in Chhattisgarh
