Micro-blogging website Twitter has stopped its account verification program. The company said that they have yet to improve their application and review process. Twitter admitted last month that it had permanently suspended some accounts it had mistakenly declared as verified accounts. The company said in a tweet that, ‘We have temporarily suspended the application for verification so that we can improve our application and review process.’
Twitter said, ‘We know this is disappointing for those who have been waiting for verification. We want to fix things and for that we appreciate your patience.

Last month, Twitter said it had mistakenly approved a verification application for a small number of fake accounts. It said in a statement, ‘We have now permanently suspended padding accounts, and removed their verified badges, in accordance with our Platform Manipulation and Spam Policy.
Verification program was also closed in 2017
Twitter had earlier discontinued its verification program in 2017, which was now relaunched again in May 2021.

In May, Twitter relaunched its new verification application process, in which users globally were given a blue badge for verification and review across six categories. However, within a week, Twitter stopped its Blue Badge verification program, and said that it would now verify the applications received by it.
