Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is preparing to start helicopter taxi service to connect major destinations across the state. This service is likely to start from December this year. While people prefer to avoid traveling in overcrowded buses and trains in the wake of the pandemic, tourism officials feel that helicopter taxis can be a good option. According to Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, where the heli port is ready in Agra, the process of preparing heliports is going on at other important tourist places.
The project will be based on the Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model and a consultant will be appointed within two weeks to find a suitable private company. Due to good connectivity, most of the tourists, especially foreigners, come to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, but due to insufficient connectivity, the same tourists miss out on other important tourist destinations. Helicopter taxi service will prove to be an advantage for such tourists. Official sources said the service will ensure that tourists reach the destination and return on the same day.
