New Delhi. The street vendors of the country will now be hi-tech. The central government is going to start a campaign in 233 cities across the country to make them hi-tech. Under this, digital knowledge will be given to street vendors and street vendors. It is the effort of the Central Government that the people of the country should use more and more digital payments, this campaign is being started under the PM Svanidhi Yojana.
The objective of the special drive is to accelerate the digital knowledge acquisition of street vendors on UPI QR codes and enable them to accept transactions through digital payments. Five leading aggregators including Paytm, PhonePe, BharatPe, mSwipe and Sware have agreed to participate in a special 45-day drive to connect street vendors digitally with BHIM-UPI QR codes.
This campaign will cover 223 cities across the country, which will include about 8,68,184 street vendors. Digital Payment Aggregator Street vendors will be educated about the benefits of digital payments such as convenience, increased operational efficiency, seamless transfer of funds, cost savings, transparency and security. They will help the street vendors by providing penny drop transactions and any other assistance required for making and accepting payments digitally.
Under the scheme, the digital footprint including digital payment transactions and loan repayment data will help in credit profiling of street vendors. This will enable the street vendors to be included in the formal credit system and will help in financial inclusion of the unorganized sector.
