Mumbai . European carmaker Skoda Auto has announced plans to set up 30 ‘compact workshops’ across India by this year to provide periodic maintenance and servicing services to its customers in the domestic market.
Skoda Auto India will also start operations in some new markets with this compact workshop with the concept of putting service paramount, the company said in a release on Monday. These workshops will meet the needs of existing and potential customers in new and emerging markets.
Business in over 100 cities in India
The company currently has over 170 customer contact centers with sales and after sales facilities in over 100 cities across India.

Jack Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India said, “Our journey to enhance our sales, enhance customer experience and focus on customers has played a key role in our success in India. We have already taken several initiatives on this front and I am happy to announce the launch of ‘Skoda Compact Workshop’.
Sales nearly quadrupled in August 2021
Skoda Auto India had said that its sales almost quadrupled to 3,829 units in August 2021. Skoda Auto India said in a statement that the company had sold 1,003 units in the same month last year. The company said that there was a good demand for the new SUV Kushak. Apart from this, the sales of other models like Octavia and Rapid also increased sharply. Nissan Motor India said that wholesale sales of its two brands Nissan and Datsun almost quadrupled to 3,209 units in August 2021.
Nissan Motor India said in a statement that the company had wholesaled 810 units in August last year. Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland said its total sales grew 48 per cent to 9,360 units in August. The company said in a statement that its total sales in August 2020 were 6,325 units.
