New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Virat Kohli, defeated Mumbai Indians by a margin of 54 runs in the 39th match of IPL-2021. Batting first after losing the toss in Dubai, RCB team scored 165 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Mumbai’s team was all out for 111 runs in 18.1 overs. This is Mumbai’s third consecutive defeat in the UAE stage. Bangalore registered its sixth win in 10 matches and are at number three with 12 points. Mumbai suffered its sixth defeat of the season. Rohit’s team has only 8 points and it has now slipped to number 7.
Captain Virat Kohli scored 51 and Glenn Maxwell scored 56 runs for Bangalore. At the same time, Srikar Bharat scored 32 runs in 24 balls. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for 36 runs for Mumbai. Trent Boult, while bowling economical, took a wicket giving only 17 runs in 4 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma (43) and Quinton de Kock (24) gave Mumbai a good start but none of the batsmen could survive after that. Harshal Patel also completed his hat-trick in the 17th over of the innings by dismissing Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar in successive deliveries.
Hardik Pandya returned to the Mumbai Indians team in this match. There were three changes in RCB. Daniel Christian, Shahbaz Ahmed and Kyle Jameson are playing in place of Tim David, Navdeep Saini and Wanindu Hasranga.
