Kalyani Devi Temple in Prayagraj is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, where the fingers of Mother Sati fell.
The temple of Kalyani Devi, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, is present in the city of Aastha i.e. Prayagraj. This is the place where three fingers of Mother Sati’s hands fell. The Ashtadhatu idol of Mata present here is about 1500 years old. Due to being a Siddhapeeth and Shaktipeeth, devotees reach here with faith all the time. Pandit Sushil Kumar Pathak, the president of the temple, tells that Maharishi Yagyavalkya also worshiped the mother at this place in Treta Yuga. He says that It is mentioned in the Puranas that due to the falling of three fingers of Mother Sati, this place became a Shaktipeeth and people started reaching here with faith.
Manokamna Kund present in the temple fulfills everyone’s wishes
A Manokamna Kund is present in the temple premises. It is believed that whatever the devotee asks for this wish with a sincere heart, the Mother Goddess fulfills it. Also, here Manglik rites like shaving, ear piercing are done throughout the year. Here Lord Shri Ram is also seated with his family. The priests of the temple say that after both Navratri and Holi, a grand and big fair is held on Ashtami.
