On the case of rape and murder in Hemant Nagrale, he said that according to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, no criminal record of the accused has come to light so far. He told that we are also engaged in searching his criminal record in Uttar Pradesh.
The police commissioner said that the preliminary investigation revealed that both the accused and the victim knew each other. The victim had demanded something from the accused, after which a dispute started between the two. We are trying to find out the reason behind that controversy.

The Mumbai Police Commissioner said that the Sakinaka police registered a case against the accused under sections of the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as the victim belongs to SC.
