New Delhi . Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in an exclusive interview with CNN-News18 that calling top IT company Infosys “anti-national” was not correct. In an article published in RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya, Infosys was called “anti-national” over the problems faced by the new IT portal.
The Finance Minister said, ‘It was not right. Such comments were not required and it was good that they distanced themselves from this comment. This comment was not correct at all.
I am sure Infosys will fix it
As finance minister, Sitharaman was personally involved in this operation with Infosys. He said that the government and Infosys are working together. I myself have called him twice and have drawn the attention of Nandan Nilekani (co-founder and non-executive chairman of Infosys).
‘I hope Infosys will deliver the product as promised. Yes, it has been delayed. It hurt us. We have brought this new port with a lot of expectations. There are some mistakes in this and we are working together to fix it. I am sure Infosys will fix this.
RSS distanced itself from this article
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday distanced itself from an article criticizing Infosys, which was published in its linked magazine Panchjanya. RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said that Panchjanya is not the mouthpiece of the RSS. This article reflects the opinion of the author and should not be associated with the organization.
In this article attacking Infosys, terming the company as ‘high shop, fika dish’. The article makes serious allegations linking Infosys with “anti-national” forces. It has been said that as a result of this the income tax portal of the government has been messed up.
Ambekar, however, took to Twitter to clarify the Sangh’s stand. He wrote, “As an Indian company, Infosys has contributed significantly to the progress of the country.” There may be some issues with a portal operated by Infosys, but in this context the article published by Panchjanya reflects the personal opinion of the author only.
