New Delhi : A new initiative has been taken by the central government to promote tourism in the North East states. For this an MoU has been signed between the Ministry of Tourism and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC). Under this, apart from rail tour packages at affordable rates by IRCTC, many steps will be taken to promote adventure tourism in these states.
In fact, to promote tourism in the northeastern states, the central government organized a two-day conference in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, in which all the tourism ministers of the northeast were present along with the top officials of IRCTC.
On this occasion, Ms. Rupendra Brar, ADG, Ministry of Tourism has said that for the first time in India, such a big program has been organized in view of the development of tourism in the Northeast. On this occasion, he advised every state and concerned agencies to form a task force. So that coordinated work can be done to increase and develop tourism in these areas.

Under this MoU, attractive and affordable rail tour packages will be created by IRCTC, which will include important tourist spots of North East states, so that tourism can be promoted in these places. Along with this, steps will also be taken towards adventure tourism, under which tourists can go to the adventure spots of these states and do adventure activities there. So far, four such packages have been issued by IRCTC. Along with this, IRCTC will also take steps regarding village and sports tourism.
