New Delhi. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 171 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK vs KKR) in IPL-14. Chennai got a target of 172 runs to win. Rahul Tripathi scored the highest 45 runs for KKR in this match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Apart from him, Nitish Rana scored an unbeaten 37 runs. Pacer Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket.
Half of KKR’s team had returned to the pavilion till 125 runs, after which Nitish Rana and wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik together played a role in taking the team beyond 165. Both made quick runs for the sixth wicket and added 41 runs in 18 balls. In the last over of the innings, Hazlewood got Karthik caught by Dhoni. He hit 3 fours and 1 six in his innings of 11 balls. Rana returned unbeaten on 37, who hit 3 fours and 1 six in his unbeaten innings of 7 balls.

Kolkata captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bat first. He got the initial blow in the first over itself and Deepak Chahar sent him to the pavilion on the last ball. On the third and fourth balls of this over, Gill hit fours but on the 5th ball he was declared lbw out. However, after taking DRS, he got to play only 1 ball and he was run out on the very next ball. Andre Russell then extended the innings and brought the team’s score to 125. He was bowled by Shardul Thakur and he returned to the pavilion as the team’s 5th wicket. Russell scored 20 runs in 15 balls with the help of 2 fours, 1 six.
