New Delhi. Indian Railways has stopped many services during the Corona epidemic. In this episode, the Railways has also stopped the facility of lower berth given to senior citizens in the train. Its purpose is to stop unnecessary travel. At the same time, it has been told from the official Twitter handle of Railway’s subsidiary IRCTC that the quota of lower berth for senior citizens is reserved only for men of 60 years and above and women of 45 years and above.
When senior citizens will not get lower berth facility
IRCTC has clarified regarding booking of lower berths for senior citizens, many facilities have been suspended to limit travel during Corona. Also told that under what circumstances this facility is given to senior citizens. Apart from this, what will be the eligibility for this facility? IRCTC has told that now if two or more senior citizens are traveling alone, then they will not be given the facility of specially lower berth. At the same time, if a senior citizen is traveling with the rest of the younger passengers, then they will not necessarily be allotted a lower berth.

How will senior citizens get confirmed lower berths
Railways allot seats on the basis of the number of senior passengers during the journey in a train. Therefore, now while booking tickets for senior citizens in future, if you keep in mind the rules and number of seats mentioned by IRCTC, then you will easily get the desired seat.

Concessional tickets for senior citizens were also canceled
Recently, a person who booked tickets for senior citizens had tweeted and asked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, what is the condition of booking tickets? He told that three tickets were booked for senior citizens, in which a demand for a lower berth was made, but not a single one was received. Apart from this, Indian Railways had also suspended concessional tickets for several categories of passengers, including senior citizens, to discourage non-essential travel in view of the coronavirus pandemic last year. Railways also said that concessions for senior citizens have been withdrawn, as the risk of spread and mortality of Kovid-19 is highest among this class of passengers. It was also said that concessional tickets will be issued to differently-abled and 11 category of patients in four categories of passengers except students.
