New Delhi. The World Health Organization may give emergency approval to India’s indigenous Kovid Vaccine (COVAXIN) this week. Covaccine has been developed jointly by the Indian Council of Medical Research and pharma company Bharat Biotech. With getting the vaccine approval, Indians will be helped to travel internationally and the export of the vaccine will also increase.
Covaccine and Covishield have been a part of the Corona Vaccination Program in India since the beginning. Covishield has got WHO approval but Covaccine is still waiting for it. This is the reason that people who have got vaccinated from this vaccine in the country are facing problems in international travel. Covaccine will also get international recognition as soon as it is approved.
Why not get approval till now?
Actually WHO’s approval process works in four stages. In the first step, the expression of interest of the manufacturer is accepted. Then there is a pre-submission meeting between the manufacturer and WHO. The dossier is then accepted for evaluation by the World Health Organization. Then considering the results of all the trials, the vaccine is approved.
On June 23, data was submitted to WHO for emergency use approval.
Bharat Biotech submitted the data to WHO for emergency use approval on 23 June. The vaccine has been found to be 77.8 percent effective on corona infected patients with symptoms. According to the final analysis, the trial of Covaccine was done at 25 trial centers in the country. In this, 25,800 volunteers from 18 to 98 years took part. Let us tell you that America’s big expert Anthony Fauci has also praised the vaccine.
What did Anthony Fauci say on the vaccine
Dr. Anthony Fauci had said – In the new data, people who have recovered from cases of Kovid-19 and who have taken the dose of Covaccine in India were analyzed. He said, it has been found that Covaccine is effective against 617 variants.
