New Delhi. Tech giant Google said in its monthly transparency report released on Tuesday that it received 36,934 complaints from users in July and removed 95,680 content based on these complaints. Google removed 5,76,892 content in July on the basis of automatic detection, apart from user complaints. The American company gave this information under compliance with India’s IT regulations, which came into force on 26 May.
The technology company said it received 36,934 complaints from individual users based in India in July, and the number of content removal actions based on these complaints was 95,680, the highest ever.

Earlier in June, Google had received 36,265 complaints and based on these, 83,613 content was removed. 59,350 content was removed in April and 71,132 content was removed in May.

The company said that some of these complaints were related to infringement of intellectual property rights, while others asked for the removal of content on grounds such as defamation.

“When we receive complaints about content on our platform, we assess them carefully,” Google said. During this time, content was removed under other legal categories including copyright (94,862), trademark (807), court order (4).
