New Delhi. To reduce environmental pollution in the country, instead of petrol-diesel vehicles, electric vehicles are being told as a better option. For this, the state governments including the center are also coming up with new schemes and policies regarding e-vehicles. In addition to the incentive amount for buying an electric vehicle, many types of loan facilities and discounts are also included. This is the reason why people are coming forward to buy electric vehicles. If you are also going to buy your own e-vehicle, then it is very important to know that what will be the age of EV? Just as the government has fixed a time limit of 15 and 20 years for petrol-diesel vehicles, can a similar time limit be brought to scrap electric vehicles?
Recently, in the New Vehicle Scrappage Policy of the Central Government, policies have been made to include petrol and diesel-run vehicles in the junk. According to this policy, 15 and 20 year old vehicles of petrol and diesel will be scrapped. For which the commercial vehicle will be thrown into the junk after 15 years and the private car after 20 years.
Electric buses, commercial electric vehicles will also be scrapped like petrol and diesel vehicles.
Regarding EVs, Himani Jain, Senior Program Lead at the Delhi-based Policy Research Institute, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), says that there are rules for scrappage not only for petrol-diesel vehicles but also for electric vehicles. Since the policy of scrapping the vehicles (out of use after a time limit) is independent of the fuel technology used in it. That is, it does not discriminate on the basis of fuel technology used in vehicles. Therefore, the incentive and process for scrapping electric vehicles is the same as for other vehicles.
She says that just as commercial vehicles of petrol and diesel will retire in 15 years, in the same way commercial electric vehicles, buses, vehicles etc. will become junk after 15 years. The same situation will remain with private vehicles. There will be no difference depending on the fuel. In such a situation, people thinking of buying an EV can buy these vehicles without any worries.
Let us inform that in view of the skyrocketing of petrol and diesel prices in the country and the environmental damage caused by pollution, the central and state governments are encouraging people to switch to electric vehicles. For this, various schemes are being brought and many types of discounts are also being given in the loan.
