The 27 different offices of the Defense Ministry and over 7,000 employees of the three services will move from their existing workplaces to two new buildings in and around the Raisina Hill area. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. Officials said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate two office complexes on Thursday. He said that the two new multi-storey buildings have been built by the Defense Ministry at a cost of Rs 775 crore. In this, one building is in Kasturba Gandhi Marg area and the other building is in Africa Avenue. He said that the total space in both the buildings is 9.60 lakh square feet.
Fourteen offices are being shifted to the Kasturba Gandhi Marg complex, which has a construction area of 4.52 lakh square feet, officials said. At the same time, 13 offices are being shifted to the Africa Avenue building, which has a total construction area of 5.08 lakh square feet. He said the process of shifting the existing offices would start in the next few days.
Parking facility for more than 1500 cars in two buildings
Officials said the new buildings constructed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development under the Central Vista project offer a modern, eco-friendly, green environment. “The location of these buildings has been designed in such a way that there is no damage to the existing trees,” an official said. The atmosphere will be sure. In addition to office space, the two buildings have multi-level car parking for a total of over 1500 cars.
The Defense Ministry had constituted a Joint Coordination Committee under the Joint Secretary to coordinate the various requirements of different offices, space allocation and common facilities.
