New Delhi / Guwahati. The Central Government is preparing to promote tourism further in the North-East states. The government has started schemes like ‘Swadesh Darshan’ and ‘PRASHAD’ here. Now better air, railway and road connectivity is also being planned to bring tourists here. For this, a two-day conclave is being organized in Guwahati on September 13 and 14, in which the Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region, G. For the first time, including the Chief Minister of Assam, Kishan Reddy, the Minister of Tourism and Culture of all the states of the North East, all the officials of the Center and the state will participate together.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, on the first day of the conclave, information about projects to improve tourism infrastructure, promote development and skill development will be given in the North East. A presentation will also be given by the Ministry of Culture on promotion of local art and culture for the development of tourism. An action plan will be prepared after discussing better connectivity by air, railway, road. For promotion by the Ministry of Tourism, financial assistance is being given to the states under Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD (National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Promotion Campaign).
Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Ministry of Tourism has approved 16 projects in the North-East region like Northeast, Heritage, Eco Circuit, Spiritual, Tribal etc. worth more than Rs 1300 crore. A total of 06 projects worth Rs 193.61 crore have been approved in the Northeast under this scheme, which includes development of Kamakhya Temple and pilgrimage site in Guwahati for an amount of Rs 29.99 crore. At the same time, on the second day i.e. on September 14, in the technical session, the progress of various projects approved under Swadesh Darshan and Prashad schemes will be reviewed. Union Minister of State for Tourism Ajay Bhatt said that more schemes will be made to increase tourism in the North East with Swadesh Darshan. At the same time, Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh said that tourism is being promoted in the North Eastern states, so that apart from local tourists, tourists from all over the country reach here.
