New Delhi. The Union Cabinet approved a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of Rs 26,058 crore for the auto, auto parts and drone industry. Giving this information, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the purpose of PLI scheme is to encourage domestic manufacturing and generate employment. With this decision, more than 7.6 lakh people are expected to get additional employment.
The Union Minister said that the Union Cabinet approved a PLI scheme of Rs 26,058 crore to enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities. The PLI scheme will encourage the development of a global supply chain of advanced automotive technology in India.

Thakur said after the cabinet meeting that an incentive of Rs 26,058 crore would be given to the industry in five years. He said that under the PLI scheme, there would be fresh investment of over Rs 42,500 crore over five years and an incremental generation of over Rs 2.3 lakh crore.
