New Delhi. Australia’s Test team captain Tim Paine has questioned the Afghanistan cricket team’s play in the T20 World Cup 2021. He said that the Taliban has imposed a ban on women’s cricket in Afghanistan. In such a situation, he believes that many teams can withdraw from next month’s T20 World Cup or refuse to play against Afghanistan. Penn has also questioned the intention of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on this issue.
The ICC is yet to decide how to deal with the ban imposed by the Taliban on Afghanistan women’s cricket, while the Afghanistan men’s cricket team is going to participate in the T20 World Cup to be held from October 17. Under ICC rules, countries that have achieved Test status must have an active women’s cricket team. But the Taliban have banned women from playing cricket in Afghanistan.
The same thing is knocking Australia’s Test captain Penn. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has also made it clear that the first Test against Afghanistan in Hobart in November will be canceled if the Taliban does not change its policy regarding participation in women’s sports.
In a conversation with Sen Sports Radio, Penn said that it is very surprising that only one month is left for the start of the T20 World Cup and the Afghanistan cricket team is still a part of it. He said that the Australian players are with the stand of the board on this issue and if the situation remains like this then it may have an impact on the T20 World Cup. But we have not heard anything from the ICC on the issue of Taliban so far.
Penn questions ICC’s intentions
When asked whether other countries can also raise questions about the participation of Afghanistan’s cricket team in the T20 World Cup, Paine said, “I think so and it will be discussed with every team.” Many countries may withdraw from the tournament or refuse to play against Afghanistan. I think the teams can take a decision just before the start of the T20 World Cup. At present, the ICC has not clarified its stand on this issue. So it will be interesting to see what the apex body of cricket is thinking.

‘How Afghanistan was allowed to play in T20 World Cup’
Penn told SEN Sports Radio that if teams are withdrawing from playing against Afghanistan and governments are not allowing them to visit us, then how can such a team be allowed to play in ICC tournaments? Is. It’s going to be very difficult.
Rashid Khan left the captaincy of T20 team a day ago
Paine’s statement came at a time when Rashid Khan, the captain of Afghanistan’s T20 team, had left his post a day earlier. Actually, Rashid was upset that no advice was taken from him in choosing the team for the T20 World Cup.
