New Delhi. The Kejriwal government will develop Delhi’s first multi-level bus parking at Hari Nagar and Vasant Vihar depots. The Delhi Transport Department is going to develop this multi-level bus parking facility at various sites of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). It will be developed by National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC). The Delhi government claims that the target of this project will be to develop two major DTC depots Hari Nagar and Vasant Vihar into world class depots. With its completion, 2 to 3 times more vehicles will be able to park at both these places than the current parking capacity.
First multi level bus parking will be developed at these two places
There are depots spread over an area of 5 acres and 6.21 acres at Hari Nagar I and II, and Vasant Vihar, which currently park 100 and 230 buses each. Now 4 and 7 floor depots will be built here and each will be able to accommodate 330 and 400 buses. These will also have basement parking of over 2.6 lakh square feet, which can accommodate more than 690 vehicles.

NBCC will make both these multi level parking
The design of these depots uses a vibration isolation system through steel helical springs followed by noise and vibration impact analysis. Along with this, 45 degree angle technology has also been used for parking efficiency. These designs have been done after detailed research of similar projects abroad and live case studies and simulations. With this, 10-15 percent more buses can be parked in each depot using 45 degree angles. Various depot related facilities like washing pits, refueling stations which will be replaced by electric charging stations in future. This will also be included on these sites.
NBCC will also make DTC colonies
Apart from these two sites, DTC colonies at Shadipur and Hari Nagar 3 are being redeveloped into residential units with retail and commercial facilities. These will also include EWS housing as per norms of Delhi Master Plan 2021. Earlier in October 2020, DTC had signed an MoU with NBCC, according to which NBCC will act as Project Management Consultant in the redevelopment of multi-level bus parking depots and residential colonies of DTC. The construction of these multi-level bus depots will start by the end of this year and will be completed in a phased manner by 2024.
