In the talks, the two leaders discussed the peace and security situation in Afghanistan and agreed to give priority to the evacuation of those trapped in Kabul. Modi and Merkel also agreed that the security situation in Afghanistan will have an impact on the regional and global security system.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Saturday and discussed the process of evacuating people from Afghanistan. At the same time, during his visit to New York last week, French Foreign Minister Jean-Vess Le Drian was also accompanied by S. Jaishankar spoke and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

The German army had confirmed a day earlier that the US and German forces were also involved in the firing incident at Kabul airport.
