New Delhi. Since the establishment of Taliban rule in Afghanistan, the future of cricket in the country is in balance. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has warned that if the Taliban does not withdraw the ban on women’s play, the only Test in Afghanistan in November will be cancelled. The Afghanistan Cricket Board is upset with this decision of CA.
ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari on Friday asked Cricket Australia to reconsider its decision not to host Afghanistan’s men’s cricket team for the one-off Test in November. Because this step of his will further isolate the already struggling country from the world.
As soon as the interim government was formed in Afghanistan, the Taliban banned women’s participation in cricket and other sports. Due to this, clouds of crisis have started hovering over the Test status of Afghanistan’s men’s team. Because according to the rules of ICC, it is necessary to have a women’s cricket team of all test playing countries.
CA had warned of canceling the only test
ACB CEO Shinwari in a statement expressed his disappointment over the possibility of cancellation of the only Test between Australia and Afghanistan to be held in November this year. He said that CA should not do this. There are many options apart from canceling this historic and important Test. But instead of offering any option, CA is trying to cancel the match.
Don’t close the doors for us: ACB
Shinwari further said that we are requesting Cricket Australia and the entire cricketing world not to close the doors for us in this difficult time, but to walk with us. Do not isolate us and do not punish us for the cultural and religious environment of the country. We recognize that CA sees cricket as a sport for all and we support the sport for women at all levels.

‘CA and entire cricketing world should support us’
He said that we also understand that recent media reports have quoted the Taliban as saying that women’s cricket will not be supported in Afghanistan’, in which case CA has refused to host the scheduled Test match. There is no option left but to do it. Shinwari said he feared that if other countries also follow in Cricket Australia’s footsteps, Afghanistan would be cut off from the cricketing world and the sport in the country could end.

Penn questions ICC
Apart from Cricket Australia, the team’s Test captain Tim Paine has also expressed displeasure over the ban imposed on women’s cricket in Afghanistan. He said that if this situation continues, then many teams can withdraw from next month’s T20 World Cup or refuse to play against Afghanistan. Penn has also questioned the intention of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on this issue.
