Chandigarh. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday criticized Punjab’s Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu over the issue of a letter written to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, saying that he should be called ‘drama’. ‘ Should be stopped and the issues of farmers should be resolved as soon as possible. It is noteworthy that Sidhu had written a letter to Amarinder Singh on Sunday seeking action on other issues, including the withdrawal of the ‘inappropriate FIR’ lodged during the protest against the farmers.
AAP Legislature Party leader in Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema criticized Sidhu for the letter, terming it a “tactic to be in the news”. He said that Congress leaders especially Sidhu is behaving as if he is in the opposition. In a statement issued here, Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Cheema said Sidhu should stop the “game of letters” on Punjab issues and farmers’ problems and should be resolved by his party’s government.

He said that by writing a letter to the Chief Minister, Sidhu gets publicity but the farmers’ issues remain unresolved. Cheema asked Sidhu, who came into politics from cricket, to stop the ‘drama’ and behave like a leader of the ruling party, otherwise the people of Punjab would never forgive him.
“If Navjot Singh Sidhu could not go to his meeting with farmer leaders with a firm promise or policy from the ruling Congress party, what did he do there,” he said. Decided to support them after knowing why Sidhu couldn’t do it. Significantly, the leaders of 32 farmer organizations had a meeting with all the political parties except the BJP on 10 September.
