“To stop the Marburg virus from spreading far and wide, we need to stop it in its tracks,” said Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO’s regional director for Africa.

At the same time, regarding the danger of this virus, WHO said that its danger is more at the regional level and less at the global level.
“We are working with health officials to build on Guinea’s previous experience and expertise in managing Ebola to contain the virus,” Moeti said. The Guinean government has also confirmed the Marburg case in a statement.
